Daisetsuzan National Park
Daisetsuzan (大雪山) is Hokkaido's largest national park. It preserves a mountainous area of virtually unspoiled wilderness, which is larger than some of Japan's smaller prefectures. It is a paradise for hikers, outdoor lovers, deer and brown bears, and the first place in Japan to see autumn colors and snow each year.
There are dots of lakes along the trail. We arrived at 12:00 p.m. After taking a quick noodle lunch, we departed for a brief walk. However, we did not get well prepared for walk in the wet trail and could only hike for 2 hours but captured lots of snapshots along the way. I will be back!
The trail route starts at this hut. Visitors are supposed to go for a circular route in anti-clockwise.
We needed to register before departure and getting back to secure our safety. Just to learn that the circular route was not through and we needed to return on same route after reaching the 3rd lake.
"Koyo" right at the entrance greeted us
Wooden path along the way
River-crossing which is quite steep and slippery
